Chez le notaire

Lorsqu’Armand est né, la sage-femme de notre mère porteuse a déclaré sa naissance à l’État Civil canadien (Vital Statistic Agency) en leur envoyant un courrier en recommandé. Quelques jours plus tard, notre mère porteuse et nous sommes allés chez le notaire pour signer trois documents importants envoyés par notre avocate: l’enregistrement de naissance, la déclaration de cessation des droits de la mère porteuse et la déclaration de la reconnaissance de notre enfant.

Après avoir scellé ces documents, nous avons renvoyé un exemplaire à notre avocate pour qu’elle les transmette au Tribunal en vue d’obtenir un Court Order, puis un second exemplaire à l’État Civil canadien (Vital Statistic Agency) qui va remplacer la déclaration initiale faite par la sage-femme et nous envoyer le certificat de naissance définitif. Une fois que nous serons en possession de ce certificat, d'ici une dizaine de jours, nous pourrons alors faire une demande de passeport pour que notre petitou puisse prendre l’avion.

When Armand was born, our surrogate's midwife declared his birth to the Canadian Vital Statistics by sending them a registered letter.

A few days later, our surrogate mother and we went to the notary to sign three important documents sent by our lawyer: the birth registration, the declaration of cessation of the surrogate mother's rights and the declaration of recognition of our child. .

After sealing these documents, we sent a copy to our lawyer so that she could forward them to the Tribunal for a Court Order, then a second copy to Canadian Vital Statistics which will replace the initial declaration made by the midwife and send us the final birth certificate.

Once we have this certificate, within ten days, we can then apply for a passport so that our little one can take the plane.
